Stephanie Schipper joins Mozilla

I’m proud to announce that Stephanie Schipper will be joining Mozilla Foundation as VP, Web Strategy. At it’s most basic, Stephanie’s job is to make sure we are awesome on the web. More specifically, she is joining us to bake participation into everything we do online.

Stephanie Schipper came from Jeff Skoll’s Participant Media and TakePart, where she was Vice President, Technology and Digital Strategy. She lead the online engagement campaign for the documentary Waiting for Superman, which focused on engaging audiences around issue in public education. She also lead the redevelopment of and the Members Project program.

Prior to joining Participant Stephanie was a Director in the Technology Practice at Ogilvy & Mather and worked on web strategy at Andersen Consulting.

As Stephanie says in her own words, she is very much a part of the Mozilla *build things* ethic:

Stephanie has always liked to build things. She started with pretzel’s and glue, then lego’s, model airplanes, went from there. Stephanie received a BA from UC Berkeley before venturing out into the world wide web. She is a member of the Society of Women Engineers and an active member of the Sierra Club. When not working she can frequently be found in her kayak.

Stephanie will be based out of Mozilla’s Mountain View office.

Congratulations Stephanie! I look forward to seeing what you bake up with the team to engage. I am a great admire of Participant Media’s social action and advocacy campaigns and look forward to seeing “Last Call at the Oasis” at TIFF.
