In a little over 10 days, I will be giving out the first Mozilla Open Web Art Award at the Transmediale Festival in Berlin. Voting for the winner is currently happening on the Mozilla Drumbeat website. Voting ends February 4.
Last year, Mozilla Drumbeat and the Transmediale Festival announced this new award as a way to stimulate art and creativity using open web technology. We received over 100 entries. The jury has narrowed it down to three finalists:
Thimbl: Decentralized Micro Blogging
Thimbl is a free, open source, distributed micro-blogging platform. “If you’re tired of being locked in to one micro-blogging platform, or a single social network. Or you’re weary of corporations hi-jacking your updates in the pursuit of money, then thimbl is for you”. The application is not yet public.

Graffiti Markup Language: Graffiti Analysis
Graffiti Markup Language (.gml) is a universal, XML-based, open file format designed to store graffiti motion data. The format is designed to maximize readability and ease of implementation for even hobbyist programmers. GML is intended to be a simple bridge between ink and code, promoting collaborations between graffiti writers and hackers.
How the voting works

What did you – in particular – like? How do you think the project supports the open web? Would you want to somehow contribute or get involved?
