Nakaseke telecentre runs on solar

The first week of the Ugabytes e-conference has had a very interesting and useful discussion on ‘telecentres and solar’. One of the highlights is a brief case study on solar at the Nakaseke telecentre:

It is amazing to see that all telecentre equipment are now fully operating on Solar; The FM Radio, 12 computers, two printers, one photocopier, lights, two video sets among others.

Of course, there have been just as many questions as answers in the conference. What is the best tech? How can we get it cheaper? What can it power?

It’s clear to me that telecentre.org needs to look into answers to these questions. Maybe there is a way we can get the big solar companies to see the importance of the telecentre movement?
